The 2nd issue of our newsletter focuses on the critical topic of sustainable leadership for today's times. Are we developing leaders who have the competence and character necessary to lead the web of complex institutions that have become so vital to the collective health of modern societies?

As I write, the result of last week’s general election here in the UK is a hung parliament and our future government is expected to be a coalition between the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties. It therefore seemed timely to focus this newsletter on the topic of sustainable leadership.

Whatever the outcome of the political talks, we need leadership now that will deliver results in the short term and build the foundations for a strong tomorrow.

According to The Harvard Business School’s Handbook of Leadership Theory and Practice, we are experiencing a time when societies around the world are crying out for more and better leadership, when our current leaders both business, government and other spheres of public life have lost legitimacy.

We should be asking ourselves whether we are developing leaders who have the competence and character necessary to lead the web of complex institutions that have become so vital to the collective health of modern societies?

Changing times require adaptive leaders who are fit to operate in today’s environment. So to stimulate your thinking we have brought together some eclectic materials. From the field of wellbeing how you can sustain performance and wellbeing over time. From Ed Schein, why the leader of the future should be a humble inquirer. From positive psychology the power of positive emotion for innovation and problem solving and finally how executive coaching helps leaders to deliver stronger results, sustain them over time and adapt to change.

In this issue:

  • Why the leader of the future must be a humble inquirer
  • 5 Ways to Wellbeing
  • How to generate positive emotion when you need it most
  • High Impact Executive Coaching
